Dear Parents,
Here it is – October already! We have been in school for 5 weeks and the seasons have finally begun to change. Fall is such a great time of year. It brings with it special holidays, like Halloween and Thanksgiving and many outdoor activities, such as apple picking and playing in leaf piles.
Last week, we had our first field trip. It was lots of fun! We also did some apple tasting. Thanks to all for making these two events a success!
As the seasons change, so do some of our classroom themes. In Science, we have finished talking about the 5 senses and are moving on to Space and, then, Weather. Math has us learning about numbers, time and math tools. We continue to work on our daily calendar and problem solving. Our first reading unit is entitled “Exploration”. This unit supports our science curriculum. It also includes our weekly spelling words.
October’s book order should be in the classroom sometime next week. The children love getting books and I love the free stuff I get for the classroom.
Some final notes:
1. Gym Days – Wednesday and Thursday – Please be sure your child wears sneakers to school on these days.
2. Open House – Thank you all for making this event a huge success! We all have busy schedules and it is important to me that you made the time to meet me and get a chance to visit your child’s classroom. Children are interested in school when they see the adults in their life interested in what is going on at school. You are their role model!
Enjoy the changes of the season!
